In the telecommunications industry, new content is relentlessly driving the development of new networks and information transmission technologies, pushing Telemach to rapidly introduce changes to its business. The coaxial cable was a predominant television technology ever since the arrival of cable systems and until Telemach began to consolidate cable systems in Slovenia and rival Telekom's copper pair technology. With the rise of two-way communications (80 percent of Telemach’s network is based on optical cables) Telemach was among the first providers of broadband internet and digital telephony. Gradual and economically feasible development of Telemach’s cable network, which brings together cable systems across Slovenia, is based on EuroDocsis 3.0, an upcoming information transmission technology that will enable Slovenian households to take advantage of digital television with unique DVRs, HD channels, broadband speeds of up to 120 Mbps and digital telephony to allow affordable calls to Slovenia and abroad.
